This is simply a must-visit winery for when you’re touring the Cape Winelands.
A Passion For Wine: The Babylonstoren Wine Farm
Babylonstoren is located on Klapmuts Simondium Road, Simondium. Their wine farm is one of the oldest working Cape Dutch farms in the Winelands region, and to this day, they are still at the top of their game.
The Babylonstoren vineyard is the beating heart of this modern farm which produces an indulgent range of wines.
Always adapting, Babylonstoren uses state-of-the-art methods to produce their award-winning wine, such as utilising modern stainless steel tanks and three types of red wine fermenters.
We believe that what makes Babylonstoren such an incredible place to visit is their love and passion for wonderful wine. This passion passes from the wine farmers and into their winemaking, ready for us to sample until we eventually drain our glasses dry.
Babylonstoren Wine Tasting
When it comes to Franschhoek wine tasting, there are many wineries to visit and sample their best produce, and Babylonstoren is one that we recommend.
Wine tasting takes place in the Babylonstoren Tasting Room, a stunning room designed for guests to simmer and focus on the pleasure of wine. The Tasting Room sits next to the Babylonstoren Wine Cellar and also allows for breathtaking views of the conical Babylonstoren Hill, Simonsberg and the Banghoek Mountains. Trust us when we say that the gorgeous location makes these wines taste even better.
There are plenty of tasting options available; choose either an exploration of Babylonstoren’s standard range of wines or an express tasting.

Franschhoek Wine Experience: Babylonstoren Cellar Tours
Franschhoek wine tours are not so hard to come by, but can you really have too many? Besides, the Babylonstoren vineyard offers a wonderful experience where you can tour the winemaking process from start to finish.
Firstly, the tour will begin with a visit to the vineyards where the vines are cultivated – feel the soil beneath your feet and the vines between your fingers
Next, the tour will take you underground and into the working cellar itself – learn all about the machines and techniques that are adopted to produce fine wine
To finish, a tasting session of a selection of Babylonstoren’s above-mentioned fine wines. If you’re lucky, there may be some delicacies from the farm to accompany your wine-tasting experience
The two-hour tour here at Babylonstoren Wine Farm just adds to the marvellousness of this magical place – the perfect activity for a solo traveller, couple or group journeying the Winelands Region in South Africa.
